What She Saw ---- update

Here is how the new rose is shaping up.   Still have to finish 3 of the petals,   I like all 20 something animals hidden in it.  They are not as easy to see this time.  I also like the added animals on the sides.  I must decide on how to quilt it so I can have it done by Thursday night.   The back has been made with scraps of the front fabric and an extra red fabric I had on hand and is just waiting for me to finish the front.

What she saw in the rose garden - reworked

Okay so I was ready to quilt this.  I had added floral animals in the red side panels and was very happy with it.  I spent a few days drawing animals to quilt in the rose .  Then I decided I didn't like the rose shape and cut it from the quilt and made all new petals except the middle elephant fabric because that was the 5" fabric that had to be included.   Now when I look at this picture I like the rose shape.   Too late now, I've cut it all up and made a new one that is now ready to quilt.  Many new animals have been added.  here are some pictures of the new rose in progress.

Birthday Capes

My grandson turns 4 tomorrow .  He has been telling me that he is having a batman party,  so I decided to sew a cape for him.  I ended up making a reversible batman cape.  The other side is a Super Gavin cape.  Then I made a Robin cape for my 1 year old granddaughter.  Hers is also reversible.  The other side is a pink Super Harper cape.  The capes velcro at the neck for easy putting on and taking off. I also made a double felt mask for Gavin.

UFO and Lock in

Friday was our annual lock in for the night group and day group quilters.  The day group also had a UFO day scheduled from 9-4.  Some of us stayed all day and all night as well.  I accomplished a lot during my day and night.
Things I worked on:  3D Cube quilt - top finished except borders
Disappearing 9 patch - top finished
Block for November block exchange finished
                                  Linings sewn in Christmas stockings
New purse - just need to add snap and turn handles
                                  several bookmarks

This is not a good angle, but the quilt is so big I would need a chair and help to put it on the
design wall.  I was way too tired by the end of the night.  Still need to add a ribbon border.

WIP -"What She Saw in the Garden"

This is my latest quilt challenge.  The challenge to use all of this fat quarter of brown rose fabric and the 5 inch patch of black, red.  The rest of the challenge is to choose one color from the fat quarter and use only that colo in a monochromatic scale.  You may also choose one background  fabric of any color.

I started with the idea of rose bushes in a garden in animal shapes.  This was put on a brown labyrinth.  The labyrinth looks good on its background, but was not quite right for the animals.  One UFO to work on at another time.

So my next idea was to make the animals as part of the rose.   Here is my start.

Creative Mess

I've been busy with lots of sewing.  Here are few pictures of my creative mess.

Twisted Nine Patch

My quilt guild recently worked on the twisted 9 patch design.

Here is a picture of the quilt used for our lesson.

This is a picture of a few of my nine patches:   'Yes! that is an intense gold fabric in the middle.
